Aberfeldy Gallery was established in 1982 by Dr Walter Yellowlees to promote the paintings and craft works of local artists. Under the management of Roger Sylvester the gallery developed quickly and was soon displaying work by established artists from across Scotland. The location of the gallery in one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland provided a regular stream of visitor who fully appreciated the quality and variety of work on show.

In 1998 Roger and Merril Sylvester retired and the business was taken over by Steven and Judy Proudfoot. As an artist Steven had been exhibiting in the gallery for many years and was keen to become more involved in the art world.

The gallery has continued to develop under the new ownership and is now open all year around. The work on display has become more contemporary to reflect the interest of the owners and the art buying public and a regular programme of exhibitions focuses on selected themes or individual artists.

2003 sees the opening of major extension to the gallery space with the addition of a bright and spacious new room that will almost double the display space available. The new room will be used to show larger contemporary works in addition to a range of late 19th and early 20th century art by artists including Gillies, MacTaggart, Cameron, Russel Flint Kay and other.
